Gilded Geometry
Featuring engravings from the 18th century, this collection puts a modern spin on antique architectural images. The drawings were made by Jean-François de Neufforge, a Belgian architect and engraver known for his eight volume series of architectural engravings. The engravings give insight to eighteenth century architecture, with most buildings pictured designed by Neufforge himself, and was used as a reference for architects in the 1700s. His work was highly geometrical, giving the plans an artistic quality with geometric shapes and symmetry. We updated these prints by applying gold leaf to certain areas, highlighting shapes within the architectural plans and geometry formulas, and tea-staining the edges of the paper to emphasize the aged look. In an extra large scale, these artworks are perfect for adding a transitional touch to any space with their antique flair and geometric designs.
