How to Style the Figure Drawings Collection
The Figure Drawings are expressive line drawings done from life. As studies of the human body, these drawings capture the essence of the form through line. A different emotion is conveyed through each pose portrayed, enhanced by changes in the line work and variations in the amount of detail. Done in charcoal and conté crayon on an aged Hungarian paper, the artworks have a collected and vintage feel, reminiscent of an heirloom. An exaggerated mat and hand-finished walnut frame adds to the antique quality, drawing attention to the artworks. With each piece in a different size, the possibilities are truly endless of how these artworks can be styled.
Our favorite arrangement is hanging all six Figure Drawings together in a gallery wall format. The differing sizes give the composition a collected feel and the varied styles used in the sketches curates the collection.
Another possibility is grouping a couple together and hanging them above a dresser or bed. Playing with size, you can have one larger artwork with smaller ones on either side to accentuate the center work. You could also hang one on either side of a bed above nightstands to frame the bed.
We love styling our smaller artworks on shelves. Paired with accessories like coffee table books, vases, and small sculptures, including an artwork on a bookshelf creates intrigue and adds a fun visual element. With their new traditional style, these artworks can add a vintage feeling to any space.
