The Story Behind Our Premium Frame Finishes

Feeling restricted by the frames offered on the market and frustrated by supply chain shortages, we worked with our framing partner to develop an exclusive series of custom frame finishes to accompany our artworks. Drawing inspiration from prominent wood finishes in the design world, the five unique finishes were designed in neutral warm and cool shades to complement furniture finishes. With the help of our neighbors at Community Mfg, we researched the most popular furniture finishes purchased by designers and created our frame series based on our findings. We wanted to produce a more curated and versatile final product, with the frame finish being designed specifically for the artwork and the interior it will inhabit. The custom frames truly elevate our artwork, adding a natural yet refined feel without detracting from the art.

Our premium frames are all hand-painted to enhance the raw wood grain, allowing the natural wood texture and pattern to come through. Unlike a veneer finish, the matte finish is rich and gives depth to the wood with variations in shade and tone, adding a painterly touch. The frames are all hand-assembled with high quality materials to ensure a polished and well-rounded product. The expert craftsmanship is evident and the custom finish enhances the handmade effect. The finishes are available on any of our three frame profiles: small shadowbox, large shadowbox, or floater frame.

Walnut

The lighter stains of white wash and ash have cool undertones and a washed look. Meant to complement artwork with a lighter color scheme, these finishes create a setting for the artwork to be the focal point. The brown shades of walnut and espresso are rich and deep, incorporating a moody element to artworks. The charcoal finish is an earthy alternative to a matte black frame, giving any piece dimension with an off-black shade. Darker frame finishes make the artwork stand out by creating depth and grounding the composition.’

We want our frames to accentuate and enhance the artwork without drawing attention away from the art. The finishes have a warm and organic feel and will complete any interior to make a cohesive and thoughtful space. Creating our own frame finishes has given us flexibility and control over the design process, allowing us more freedom to express our vision.
