Project Spotlight: Sage LA

Sage LA is a brand new apartment building located at the intersection of Los Angeles’ most vibrant eastside communities. When ISO Architecture reached out to us to design art for the building, we were enthusiastic to create a bold and bright art package to reflect the artistic mission of the project. Surrounded by iconic LA landmarks, the building represents all the different sides of Los Angeles, from the warm weather and nature to the culture and art. With a vast array of both indoor and outdoor amenities, Sage LA promotes relaxation and community to enhance the lifestyle of their residents.

We used bright color, organic shapes, and funky patterns to bring expression and creativity to the spaces. Inspired by nature with a modern twist, we played off of the floral designs and integrated greens and earth tones throughout the building. With a variety of mediums, we created a well rounded art collection that speaks to the different purpose of each room while tying the whole building together.

In the lobby, our Space Shapes make an impact on opposing walls. The dark green canvas complements the green used throughout the space, while the gold ink provides a metallic pop of color. The geometric shapes on these large silkscreens create an interplay with the more organic shapes used in the interior.

Our artworks are scattered throughout the leasing offices and mailroom, providing pops of color and texture. We created our Paper Cut Outs in a custom sage green colorway for the leasing office for the namesake of the building. The organic shapes and calming colorway perfectly suit the office and give prospective residents a welcoming feeling. Textural artworks like Europa and Revolve make an otherwise dull mailroom exciting with their interesting texture and bright color.

In the game room and golf simulation room, we played off of the playful theme with abstract shapes and youthful colors. The set of 4 Black Cut-Outs are hung above the shuffleboard table and bring some energy to the space. The prints create a cool and fun vibe in the room, complementing the black furnishings without making the space dark. The 2 Super Bloom prints in the golf simulation room use natural colors and organic shapes that evoke the feeling of the outdoors.

Our retro silkscreens are placed throughout the amenity spaces, brightening up the rooms with their linear designs. In the pet amenity room, our silkscreens are in a light pink and baby blue color scheme, complementing the pink and blue tiles used in the dog washing area. Our Color Blocked Grey Squares in the residential lounge provide a creative way to fill a long space. The set of 5 silkscreens all have the same colorway but varying designs to create intrigue. In the coworking lounge, our Eclipse and Horizons silkscreens in ultramarine blue and blush colorways bring playful color to the space in a sophisticated manner.

To play off the moody interior of the music room, we hung a grid of 12 colorful Mini Screen Prints on a focal wall. The vivid silkscreen inks stand out against the dark green wallpaper and darker room, making quite the statement. The linear designs interact, connecting all the smaller artworks into one larger art piece.
